As a blonding specialist in San Antonio, I've spent years helping my clients achieve healthy, beautiful blonde hair. I understood the science behind lightening hair, creating customized formulas, and recommending the right products.

But recently, I decided to go blonde myself.

While I knew what to expect professionally, experiencing blonde hair firsthand has given me an entirely new appreciation for what my clients go through every day.

Blonde Hair Is Different

I'm naturally a Level 3 brunette with naturally curly hair, so lifting my hair to blonde was a journey. While blonde isn't as high maintenance as vivid colors, it does require more intention than I expected.

I've become much more mindful of things like heat styling, moisture, and even swimming.

Heat Protection Is Everything

One thing I've noticed immediately is how important heat protection really is.

I've lowered the temperature on my hot tools, become more consistent with using heat protectant, and pay much closer attention to how often I'm styling my hair.

Healthy blonde isn't just about the color. It's about protecting it every day.

Understanding Porosity

Lightened hair naturally becomes more porous, meaning it can lose moisture faster.

Since my hair is also naturally curly, keeping it hydrated has become even more important. I'm paying closer attention to how my hair feels and adjusting my routine based on what it needs instead of using the same products every wash day.

Texas Summers & Blonde Hair

Living in Texas also means thinking about the pool, sun exposure, and mineral buildup.

These are things I've always educated my clients about, but now I truly understand why they matter. Small habits, like protecting your hair before swimming and using the right products afterward, really help keep blonde looking fresh.

Becoming Blonde Made Me a Better Stylist

The biggest surprise has been how much this experience has changed the way I consult with my clients.

I don't just understand blonde hair from a technical perspective anymore. I understand what it's like to live with it.

If you're considering balayage, highlights, or going blonde in San Antonio, my goal is always to create a look that's beautiful, healthy, and realistic for your lifestyle.

Because great blonde hair doesn't end when you leave the salon. It's something we create together, both in the chair and at home.
